Geshe Michael Roach has long had an interest in business. His penchant for diamonds is well documented, to the point that he uses diamonds as an unconventional example in his Buddhist teachings. In fact he spent 17 years working in New York City's diamond trade (the same time period that he claims to have been studying for his Geshe Degree in South India).

Geshe Michael Roach has always put his money back into Dharma activities which is admirable.

Perhaps Geshe Michael Roach's most active projects is the Enlightened Business Institute. The aim of this project is to use Buddhist practices in order to generate wealth, and happiness in this life. The philosophy of the Enlightened Business Institute is based on Geshe Michael Roach's most popular book, the Diamond Cutter.

One of the principle teachings of Buddhism is renunciation. In fact, any action aimed at gaining a result in this life is not, by definition, considered a Buddhist action. The Diamond Cutter book and the Enlightened Business Institute are squarely aimed at this life's financial benefits.

"When teachers break the precepts, behaving in ways that are clearly damaging to themselves and others, students must face the situation, even though this can be challenging, criticize openly, that's the only way." — His Holiness the Dalai Lama

May all beings instantly achieve every happiness, be free from any suffering, never be separated from a perfectly qualified Mahayana teacher and quickly achieve perfect, pure enlightenment in order to benefit others.

May all beings be happy!
